Volunteer Opportunities at CPRE Leicestershire

There are a variety of opportunities with CPRE Leics to help us continue and expand our activities:

Fundraiser

We're aiming to raise funds to enable us to run more projects to protect the Leicestershire Countryside. Duties include:
1. Co-ordinate fundraising activities – working with other volunteers
2. Investigate sources of funding and find appropriate local contacts
3. Draft grant applications
4. Find sponsorship
5. Write to donors
We’d like someone with experience of fundraising.

Branch Secretary

We need to recruit an efficient Branch Secretary to become the contact for the Branch, to deal with correspondence and communications from CPRE National Office and members of the public and other organisations and to organise and minute meetings. For this role it is necessary to have the ability to follow complex discussions. Access to a computer and ability to use word-processing packages and email is required. Branch Committee meetings take place every six weeks and are held in the evening, usually in Birstall, Leicester.
Or for someone who would be willing to undertake a more limited role:
Branch Meetings Secretary
Branch Committee meetings take place every six weeks and are held in the evening, usually in Birstall, Leicester.  Duties include:
1. Take minutes of the meeting
2. Forward the draft minutes to the Chair for amendment/approval
3. Circulate the draft minutes to Branch Committee members and CPRE National Office.
For this role it’s necessary to have the ability to follow complex discussions. Access to a computer and ability to use word-processing packages and email is required.

Newsletter Editor

We produce 2 newsletters per year – Spring and Autumn. Duties include:
1. To collate articles/ materials from Branch Committee, District Groups and other volunteers
2. Write some articles.
3. Produce the set-up/ lay-out of the newsletter
4. Liaise with printer to organise printing.
For this role it's necessary to have access to and knowledge of desk-top publishing packages. Experience of liaising with printers would be an advantage.

Transport Campaigner

To lead on transport issues in County-wide development plans. Duties include:
1. To contribute to the formulation of CPRE Leics transport policy, building on the National CPRE policy.
2. Communication with CPRE's National Transport Campaigner.
3. Participate in CPRE Leics campaigns on transport issues
4. Producing written responses to transport issues contained in Regional and County Development plans
We’d like someone with knowledge / interest in transport issues, particularly public transport.

For all these roles we'd like people with a genuine interest in rural issues and desire to help CPRE. It will be necessary to have excellent written and verbal communication skills; initiative, able to work independently whilst recognising limits of remit. Computer literacy and access to pc and internet would also be desirable as we maintain a lot of communication via email. All out of pocket expenses can be repaid.
